Kingdoms of the Mists
Who is Kyog Khan?
If the Tergs are brutal savages, Kyoh Khan is the worst of them. The Khan is always the strongest, most cunning Terg and Kyog suits these requirements admirably. His strike and fade away raids vex all of the leaders of the lands he attacks, and only Strahd can claim to have decisively driven Kyog’s raiders from his lands.
Where Does He Rule?
The Tergs are horse nomads, condemned as savages and raiders by more ‘civilized’ folk. They rule the open plains of Nova Vasa and often raid far into neighboring kingdoms. Many cities see them coming and heap treasure, goods and even slaves outside of their walls, hoping the Tergs will take the easy offerings and pass them by. Sadly, Tergs value combat and slaughter as much as the fruits of pillaging, so such tactics seldom work.
How Does he Influence the Kingdoms?
Kyog Khan is far more sophisticated a ruler than his reputation might suggest. He is a shrewd negotiator and understand the value of his people’s most sought after commodity- the most excellent horses to be found in the kingdoms. Even kingdoms that do not border Nova Vasa will trade with Kyog in hopes of enriching their own stock with Vasa mares or stallions. For the right price Kyog will also allow his tribesmen to serve as mercenaries, and more than one Tergish raid has been suspiciously to the benefit of some third party with an interest in the raided lands. A positive relationship could mean having impressed the Khan or done him a service in some way; negative or conflicted could mean having crossed the Tergs, or even that most reprehensible of crimes- horse rustling.
