Kingdoms of the Mists
Who Is Yango Petrovna?
There is only one god in G’henna, Zhakata the Destroyer and High Priest Yango Petrovna Rex is his prophet. An exile from Barovia, Yango claimed the once fertile land of G’Henna in the name of his then unknown god. His dark influence has since corrupted the land so that all who dwell there are on the verge of starvation and completely dependent on the whims of the prophet and his cadre of religious leaders.
Where Does He Rule?
G’Henna is a starving land of religious zealotry, where the populace slave to produce food for sacrifice to their deity. Their religion states that Zhakata has two forms, the Destroyer – to whom they depend upon for all of their food, receiving only enough to keep themselves alive – and the Provider – the opposite of the Destroyer, the arrival of whom the G’Hennans pray for fervently. G’henna is not a barren wasteland- far from it. The small country boasts excellent topography for agriculture. However until the Provider arrives, all crops and livestock reared here is afflicted with a black hue, and any who eat of it before the food is blessed by a priest of Zhakata will undergo a terrible transformation into a twisted, ghoul-like creature consumed with hunger. Petrovna can also cause this transformation upon unbelievers at will through ritual.
How Does He Influence The Kingdoms?
Petrova Rex has two ambitions: one is for G’henna to rise to a high place among the kingdoms, and in this interest he encourages trade and diplomacy. The crops and livestock of his country are of quality when blessed but few nations knowingly take in goods of such dubious origin. Non consumables such as minerals are more frequently traded, and starving G’hennans work themselves to death in quarries and mines. Petrovna’s second goal is, predictably, to spread the black plague of his own land throughout the kingdoms and bring the known world into slavish servitude to the Destroyer- at least until such time as the Provider arrives. A conflicted o negative relationship with Petrovna likely means an understanding of evil and a willingness to oppose it. A positive relationship would be tough to explain.
